Assume it was hand-washed in a wallet. And assume it is now soaking wet and hanging from a camera strap with a bobby pin. What is a safe way to dry it out?

7. how long before you intend to cash it?
air drying is probably best- i said to press it in a book to keepit from curling...but no, it shouldn't stick.

If only to get it out of the Stooges routine that is life and into a safe place like a bank before something else happens to it!

(P.S. It's not my check.)

17. lay it flat on another piece of (clean) paper, let it dry out naturally
It might wrinkle but as long as it's legible it'll be OK.

Don't let the bank snow you, if it is a good check it'll clear. There is a procedure for cheques that fail being machine readable.

23. Can you take it back to the issuer of the check and get another
check? It would be obvious by checking the account that the check was not cashed.

Good Luck!
