GOPisEvil will be VERY glad to get back to Austin. |
|
He was supposed to be back yesterday, and at work today. Unfortunately, we're batting 1000 (is that the correct baseball term?) when it comes to colossal airline fuckups on return trips so far. I got screwed coming back from there in early January, and he got screwed trying to leave WA.
American Airlines canceled his flight out yesterday. They called in the morning while we were getting ready to let him know, then informed him that they'd already booked him on another flight - the one leaving at 2:25. Also the last flight to Austin for the day. Could we make that flight? Yep - if we left RIGHTAWAY. We've got a 2 hour drive over the mountains to get to the airport, so there's no time to mess around. We get on the road, endure a crappy (and at some times, scary) drive over the mountain to the airport. When we get there and he tries to check in they tell him that he is on that flight THE NEXT DAY. Wha??? They offer him the opportunity to roll the dice on a standby flight - which he takes. He heads off through the gate to see if he will get lucky, and I hang out in the airport for the next 2 hours only to find out that there's no chance of him getting a standby flight. He's stuck in WA, and his luggage is on it's way to Austin. YAY. :eyes:
So off to the outlet mall we go for a shirt, a coat, draws and socks, then another stop for a toothbrush and deodorant. I put him on a shuttle this morning back to the airport, and he was actually able to board this time. :eyes: Not only did their screw up cost us both a bunch of additional and unnecessary money it wasted at *least* 8 hours of our day yesterday that could have been MUCH better spent at home enjoying ourselves, or out doing something FUN.
Airlines are Teh SUX0R!

12. I totally agree with you. |

Unfortunately, sometimes it's just not that easy.
Oh but to be independently wealthy and not have to work. Road trips would be much more fun!

I was on Matcom's wavelength on that one I think.... :)
Dude could've used some boots though. Who told him it was a good idea to bring only open MESH tennies to WA in the winter?

I won't tell EITHER of them. Since I seriously doubt that he'll be looking at DU any time before tomorrow evening I think you're safe on that front. Maybe.
