My fellow Loungers...celebrate with me |
|
Today, I got an unexpected windfall. No, didn't win the Lotto. But I got something else I think came largely from luck. I just got off the phone.
A sponsor. Even better? Full sponsorship from my gym.
Big deal? For me, yes.
My membership is free. I can bring future training clients there, for free. This was a huge thing for me. If someone is interested, I can have them come to the gym for 60 days without a contract. I figure that fitness/weight loss is a commitment. If I can't inspire you to stick with it, then you shouldn't be locked into a 3 year contract. My supplements (which, sadly, are few) are free. I can share in future profit (that's a year away).
I get to design a smoothie for the bar. I get to name it, too. I'll get a cut from that.
In exchange, I have to wear their shirt when I work out. I also have to wear their shirt when I go to any competition/events. If I compete *laughs* then I have to promote them how I can. I have to put a bumper sticker on my car. The downside, I can't work out anywhere else, unless it's out of state (or not local with no alternative) or as someone's guest somewhere.
It's not what I do for a living. Matter of fact, I haven't charged for personal training in a year or so. It IS what I'd love to do, though. I envision a not-for-profit fitness center in my future, among other things.
It doesn't mean any REAL money now, but it does mean that I can cut the predatory trainer folk off at the knees, and build something. Making money off of hardships is just wrong with me. Making money off of satisfied folks finding success...well, that I can subscribe to.
So...DU, creatine is on me!!!!!!

6. Deserve? Nah. The trigger was |
|
a conversation at the gym that sealed the deal. One of the clients of the owner is a BIG pro wrestler. Basically told him he was an idiot for not using my "unique" self as leverage. We've worked out together a few times, so he knew I wasn't full of shit.

that is awesome to have a sponsor and all you have to do is work out in their shirt.
:headbang:
edit: who are "the predatory trainer folk"?

15. Predatory trainer folk... |
|
Those that care only about the hourly fees and not about their clients and the progress they make.
Example: If you need me after a year, for training (not for a push, inspiration, etc) because I haven't taught you, then I've failed. It's the "teach a man to fish" ideal.
