Come Passover, I begin my hunt for HFCS-Free Coca Cola
Since my Kosher homies can't consume certain grains during Passover, they market real-sugar Coke during the holiday. I hear it goes fast, so day 1, I'm on a hunt...Ever since I had it in France, I've been aching to have it again....Victory, she will be mine :D

1. You can get it down here all the time.
Coke brought in from Mexico is made with sugar. You can also get Dr. Pepper with sugar, made in Dublin, TX.

9. Ask your supermarket to order you some
just tell them you want to buy a few cases or whatever and most stores will order it in and set it aside for you. :)

15. We can get Mexican Coke (with regular sugar) here year-round, at the regular market.
My neighborhood is sufficiently Latino that the supermarket carries a whole mess of Mexican products, including Coke...you may wanna check your gigan-to-mart's Mexican/Ethnic/whatever-they-call-it-there aisle. It's in glass bottles right by the Jarritos.

When I was in Costa Rica, I had Fresca with sugar...I've never seen non-diet Fresca, let alone non-HFCS Fresca, here. Weird.

17. Up here in Canada
The only HCFS pop I've seen (and admittedly I drink it rarely) has been stuff imported from the US.

It's great stuff. Start looking for it a week or so before the first night of Passover.

19. If there's a bodega anywhere in Boston...
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 12:35 AM by Spider Jerusalem
check it out and look for Coca-Cola in 355ml glass bottles (should say "Hecho En Mexico" on the bottle, and "Coca-Cola Refresco" on the cap). It's fairly common here in Atlanta (and most other places with a significant Latino population); there are whole neighbourhoods where every convenience store has it.

And you might check out an international market near you, too; the one here has Pepsi from Honduras, sweetened with sugar (along with a lot of other weird soft drinks, like this horrid stuff called "Thums Up" from India that seems to be flavoured with betel nut).

On edit: A Google search reveals that there's a Mexican restaurant called Taqueria El Amigo in Waltham, MA that has Mexican Coca-Cola; if you eat there and you're nice to them maybe they'll let you buy a case. :)

20. The Real Thing
Coke with real cane syrup is the nectar of the gods.

I'm am convinced the new coke/classic coke fiasco was really a cover to hide the switch to HFCS here in the states.
