Pro Golfer Sues To Identify Author Of Wikipedia Post (Fuzzy Zoeller)
<snip>

MIAMI -- Pro golfer Fuzzy Zoeller is trying to track down the author who posted what he describes as a defamatory paragraph about him on the Internet reference site Wikipedia.

An attorney for Zoeller filed a lawsuit against a Miami firm last week because the law won't allow him to sue Wikipedia, which is based in St. Petersburg.

The suit alleges someone used a computer at the Miami consulting firm of Josef Silny and Associates to add defamatory information to Zoeller's Wikipedia profile.

Wikipedia describes itself as the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Wikipedia leaves it to a vast user community to catch factual errors and other problems.

The paragraph in question has been removed, but the information has been picked up by other Web sites. The lawsuit said the Wikipedia information alleged that Zoeller abused drugs and alcohol.

5. If Zoeller wins the suit
I wouldn't edit a single Wiki entry.

Same with newspapers. You don't reveal sources.

7. "...but the information has been picked up by other Web sites."
This one even has a mirrored version of the page in question:

Later Zoeller went public with his alcoholism and prescription drug addiction, explaining that at the time he made those statements, he was "in the process of polishing off a fifth of Jack (Daniels) after popping a handful of vicodin pills". He further detailed the violent nature of his disease, recalling how he'd viciously beat his wife Dianne and their four children while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He also admitted feigning a ruptured spinal disc in 1985 so as to be prescribed a multitude of prescription medication. <4>

He sought professional help and mended his fractured familial relationships. In May 2006, Zoeller said in an interview with Golf Digest magazine that he hadn't beaten his wife in nearly five years.

Wonder if the Golf Digest reporter asked him the classic gotcha, "When did you stop beating your wife?"

Vicodin, eh? Isn't that what OxyRush was using right before he lost his hearing?

8. That's right - he never abused drugs. He loved every one of them, and treated them equally.
What a dick.
