1. I don't know anyone that liked it. I thought "Load" and "Reload" were |
|
boring. "Garage Inc." was great for obvious reasons.

St. Anger grew on me, though the purposely gritty sound is enough to keep me from listening to it over and over. St. Anger was produced to sound like a garage recording, I could have lived with that, but they took the snare out of Lar's drum, and did something horrible to his bass drum.
The producers claim was this was the antithesis to the black album, which was polished and then repolished. I really dig 4 songs on that album, including the 2 singles Frantic and St. Anger.
Its funny, if Metallica, in "giving the fans what they want", was releasing a Master of Puppets clone every couple of years, people would bitch they were one trick ponies and completely stagnant. Metallica, like real artists, grow and change over time, produces what they want to make, not what some audience who acts like they own them wants to hear. This of course creates unnatural levels of derision from people who probably wished they released Master of Puppets clones every couple of years.
Oh what the hell am I doing? Metallica is teh suXors, they killed Napster.....boooo hisssss!

4. Just crossbreed 'Black Album' and 'And justice for all' |
|
That would be a good album that the core Metallica fans would like:)

All artists revisit there roots at one point in there careers. Plus, we still got to hear Trujillo's contribution to the band. (he's a freaking wildman on stage, saw them last July in DC)
I agree though, that would be a great album. I'm gonna lay the data sides of those two CD's against each other and see what happens.

6. Was never really a fan... |

...in fact, I never really listened to them until after the file-sharing publicity...I actually downloaded some of their songs just out of spite "because I could!"
I by no means proclaim myself a fan, or even half-assed knowledgeable about anything Metallica. I guess I've just noticed that most of the people I know who are fans think that their music has really gone downhill...
I don't totally agree with their stance on file sharing, but I do like a lot of their music. But I'm listening to "St. Anger" right now for the first time and am really wishing I had something better to do than bitch about it here on DU :)
...but I must add that the lyrics to "Some Kind of Monster" are pretty good...
