10. Yes it does take all kinds.
I'm almost 50 & have heard bitch used as a derogatory term almost all my life.

The trend for woman to "own it" just hasn't erased all the negative in my mind. Good for those of you who can. I'm just not there yet. In all honesty, I may not ever be there. I'm fine with that though.

:hi:

29. Kind of.
Before my spouse and I split, she used to call me bastard, and I started calling her bitch, but we only did it as terms of endearment (No, that wasn't the cause of the split, it was well along by that point). We would not use the words in a fight. Hard to explain why we did it that way, but we both understood that it was a term of affection at the time.

Words mean what the listener and speaker think they mean. If both are in sync, there's no miscommunication, and anything can be a term of endearment. If they have different understandings of the word, then the problem isn't really the word but the lack of understanding. There are no absolute connotations to words.

33. I've never used the term "bitch" in relation to a woman
even when my marriage to my ex-wife was in its last throes.

I've met plenty of women who've called themselves a bitch when they've done something wrong - or, have used bitch towards other women, however. And, I've certainly heard men use that towards women...

But, if you're using it to mean a woman that has a strong personality, then i'm all for it, because those types of women are the sexiest.

35. If you know it is very offensive to SOME women
why would you continue to use it?

It's like the N word. Is there a certain minimum percentage of people that need to be offended by it for you to be convinced not to use it?

37. i would never use it if it offended someone
that is not my intention...

this thread was started cos i got curious about the term when it was used in one of those 'when you think about so and so threads'

you KNOW the ones i'm talkn' bout, doncha?;)

i would NEVER intentionally hurt someone's feelings unless (and god forgive me) THEY PISS ME OFF:rofl:
