'Ego Clashes' Postpone Van Halen Reunion Tour

The fabled Van Halen reunion tour set for this summer has been derailed, thanks to a new set of ego clashes within the always-troubled band. David Lee Roth was to have hit the road with Eddie Van Halen for the first time since 1984, but concert promoter Live Nation has "shut down" the tour, says the L.A. Times. Roth told the paper: "We have fragile politics in Van Halen, please accept that as a partial answer." Roth's publicist told us she couldn't comment.

I was watching (an awards show) with an old friend. Roth came out playing it up to the crowd and I turned to my buddy and said "Oh I don't think Eddie is liking this at all" He agreed.

They broke back up pretty much immediately following that backstage. It hit the news the very next day.

Loved the original Van Halen, but can anyone just let anything go anymore? That's why I loved (among other reasons) Lennon. He was a hold out while the others were ready to reform. He understood that it was great but you can't go back, you do a disservive to the original impetus for one thing.

I know this is going to sound harsh, it's meant with a grain of salt, but sometimes the best thing that can happen to a successful group is death. The legacy is etched forever in prime condition with no hope for sullying later on by a bloated rock star who's run out of coke money. Not referencing Lennon here btw.
