2. the first one...good monster...bad :idiot" set-up |
|
horrible "no one wins" ending.
Second one was like "Aliens" in which the humans actually get a chance to fight the bad guy on better terms.

3. Haven't seen the second one. Is it better than the first? |
|
I hope so. I thought the first one was horrible all the way through. Not just the ending. Actually, I thought the ending, though quite contrived, was a breath of fresh air compared to most movies.

After seeing the end of the first one I threw the tape across the room.
JC2 is the "Aliens" of the series. MUCH, MUCH better.

9. JC = Alien; JC2 = Aliens |
|
I think I read somewhere that the producer or writer or whatever intended the first movie to be like "Alien" and then the sequel would be the "Aliens" of the series.

4. We kind of liked the first one... |
|
Great set-up at the beginning, and the somewhat metafictional awareness that they characters were playing right into the stereotypical horror genre. They did a much better, more subtle job of that than that supposedly clever dreck, the "Scream" franchise.
I also enjoyed the fact that it wasn't one of those "nobody believes the kids about the monster until it's too late" plots. As soon as he was able, the "creep" was in everybody's face.

6. I don't watch movies made by child molestors |
|
Victor Salva is a child rapist, and I refuse to line his pockets. I survived such a monster (not movie monster) and I'd hope that as people learn more about him, they'll boycott his offerings, too. (And no, I don't think that a child rapist can ever really repay his debt to society or the life s/he destroyed.)
Sorry to offend anyone who may support "reforming" such creatures.

10. Salva, who created Jeepers... |
|
was convicted of raping a boy who worked on his first movie. Google his name, and you'll find out all the good news about the paedophile.
