6. look, it's an accomplishment

but I think the real deal is being competitive now. When Summitt was racking up huge numbers, women's basketball was a backwater, there simply wasn't enough talent being developed for more than a couple of teams to compete at a high level. Now that there are many more excellent players, coaching and recruiting becomes a bigger and bigger deal. her wins over the past 10 years are worth more than the previous ten, even though there are fewer of them, because the competition is so much greater. a decade ago, if you had a modicum of talent, you were guaranteed 20 wins a season, 15 years ago, that talent got you 25. now it would get you 12.
