Hey old hippies, remember Zap comics and the freak brothers?
Edited on Fri Jan-09-04 08:36 AM by Mountainman
I remember one of the freak brothers getting zapped in the privates by plugging into the wall socket. They did anything to get a high!

How about Horse Shit magazine. "Did you get your daily does of horse shit today?"

They had a drawing of the All American mom and dad. The were nude but had no genitals. And they had a crusifix getting an erection while a cute nun was undressing in front of it. It was tasteless to say the least.

1. I remember...
...the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. They kept sending one guy (Fat Freddy?) out to buy dope and he always got burned. Funny stuff.

10. Bode---wow, that brings back memories!
When National Lampoon was a must-read and some of us knew the real reason "Animal House"'s character "Pinto" got his name...

2. Oh,absolutely.
R Crumb is always in a class of his own.

The Freak brothers - Fat Freddy, Phineas, and Freewheelin' Franklin - and of course Fat Freddy's Cat.

"I'm Fat Freddy's Cat
and I'm mean and tough
I take no guff
when I strut my stuff..."

Remember Wonder Warthog? The Hog of Steel?

19. Only to Fat Freddy's Cat
To the populace at large, he was Fat Freddy's Cat. But Fat Freddy's Cat knew his name was F. Frederick Skitty.

18. Gilbert Shelton drew the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers
Edited on Fri Jan-09-04 01:04 PM by Bridget Burke
Not R Crumb.

Of course I remember Wonder Warthog--whose secret identity was Philbert K Desanex. I first encountered him in (pre-hippy) hot rod/custom car magazines, where I also met:

Big Daddy Roth's Rat Fink!

I've really pissed off a few friends by letting them read that one...it truly is the most offensive comic I've EVER seen (but the sick side of me laughed, so what do you do???)

5. Wasn't there a Freak Olympics as well at one time?
Or was that an Urban legend?

I remember a bunch of people talking about these Freak Olympics back in the 70's where there would be a gathering at some secret location. People would have to go through various drug induced/inducing activities to be rewarded.

13. Far out , man....
Phinius, Freewheelin' Frank and Fat Freddy & Fat Freddy's cat was too cool.....

I remember Fat Freddy's cat would shit in his head phones...and...
one time...The cockroaches and mice in the house joined forces to try to kill the cat...the leaders of the cockroaches had a truce meeting with the mice generals to try to combine forces...
Cock-a-roaches: "Our friends the mice, let's put aside our differences and join together in a mighty campaign to rid our world once and for all of our mutual enemy the cat...

The mice: " Ahhhh cockroaches" And they ate them....

(well, it was paraphrasing and I guess you had to been there...)
