Dear Valued Customer:
We have recently become aware of a fraudulent ("phishing") email, claiming to be from Monster, which was sent to a large group of Internet users, including some of our customers.
The fraudulent email, which may be personally addressed, directs the recipient to a fraudulent website to download a Monster "Hiring Tool", "certificated utility", "Job Seeker Tool" or other program that the email claims is needed to continue to use Monster services.
Please be aware of the following information should you receive this email:
- The fraudulent email is NOT from Monster. It contains "spoofed" domain information designed to mimic a Monster address.
- This email was sent millions of consumers, not just Monster customers, hoping that those people who are Monster customers will react to it.
- We advise you to NOT click on any links or take any actions requested in the email.
- If you have clicked on a link, we highly recommend that you run an anti-virus application to remove anything that may have been installed on your computer and contact a Monster Representative to have your Monster account password changed.
- Monster is aggressively taking action to shut down fraudulent Web sites referenced in the fraudulent email. If you receive a fraudulent email purporting to be from Monster, forward it with full "header" information to
phishing-support@monster.com. (Instructions on obtaining header information can be found at:
http://www.spamcop.com/help_with_headers/.)
REMEMBER, Monster will NEVER send an email asking you to confirm your username and password, nor will Monster ask you to download any software, "tool" or "access agreement" in order to use your Monster account. If you receive an email that contains such a link, you can validate the URL (web address) by going directly to
http://www.monster.com/. For further information on spotting email fraud, please visit:
