Anyone else feeling ill? If so, what are you doing to remedy it? |
|
Anyone else feeling "under the weather?" I have a cold/flu mixture, and it's miserable. My sinuses are draining, I'm coughing a helluva lot, my throat is sore, I have a fever, I'm sneezing all over the place, and I nothing is working to tone down these symptoms.
I'm sucking on some Halls drops, but they only work until the drop is dissolved.
I got a flu shot a couple months back and I'm glad it's working. :eyes:
How are you feeling today?

Take a good book with you and wait it out. You need rest and plenty of liquids.

I'm a nose breather, so...yeah. Also, I've been coughing a helluva lot. It's just not worth it. :(

I stocked up on Elderberry syrup after I had a week's bout with a head cold after a cross-country flight, and I've managed to survive the flu and sinus infection that hit the rest of the family over the last few weeks.
Best thing I can think of for you is rest(keep out of drafts and stress if you can), lots of liquids, Vic's Vapo-rub over the sinuses to help with the post nasal issue (and the migraine that sometimes occurs), something to soothe the throat when you get to raspy, and wait the fever out (drink lots of liquids as the fever rises to control it - we've noticed that the fever starts dropping a major portion of degree or so soon after every 12 ounces of juice or "enhanced water" ingested). Go to the doctor if you're coughing up bile or "snot" from the lungs, constantly throwing up, or running a seriously high fever (over 101) for more than a few hours at a time - you might be developing one of the other problems that accompanies this flu. The doctors have told us that waiting these colds/flus out is the best thing, however, if any of the above symptoms are present and if the fever starts hitting around 102 regularly, go to the emergancy room immediatly.
From what I have noticed, stress and lack of rest seems to be the major trigger for this cold/flu season. Moreso than simple exposure.
