Sunflowers 2007, Week #2 * * * * Dial up warning

Time for an update.
I sent them to their garden, where they will live out their lives,
hopefully giving some enjoyment.

A good neighborhood, with Oxalis ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxalis ) right next door:

Here are two sprouts de-husking:

2. It's only fun for about two months, then the 100 F days begin.
Perhaps the color will give you hope for your spring.

3. Do you break off the base of the peat pot when you plant them?
Just curious. With smaller seeded plants I found that was helpful but I'm guess that with something as big as a sunflower seed it probably has no trouble working its roots through the peat.

Time to plant mine!

5. No. I hadn't ever heard of doing that.
That sounds like a good suggestion.
I'll file it away for the next transplanting.

Thanks, Gormy Cuss

I am so sorry I missed your post till now...

But.....these pictures are just wonderful!

Isn't it amazing how those tiny little sprouts will grow into plants 12 feet tall?

I'm totally happy to see them coming up so strongly!

Good on ya!
