I'm getting:
"The Conversation" with Gene Hackman (I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't seen it)
"A Wedding" directed by Robert Altman
"8/12"
"The Films of Kenneth Anger"
Sort of an eclectic mix. :-)

5. my dear, you have excellent taste! |
|
for years, my husband the film student's favorite film was The Conversation.
And you can't go wrong with Altman, Fellini (yay!) and Anger.
For Xmas, my husband ordered himself a Maya Deren film restrospective.

7. she revitalized American experimental film after WWII |
|
and connected it with the European tradition. She had a dance background. Very interesting woman!
(this is my husband talking... he's home today.) And my son liked some of the films he saw, as well.
As for Anger - he is intense - early 60s film-maker, wrote Hollywood Babylon, etc. Husband says 2 minute short called Puce Moment is one of his favorites. Very challenging film-maker. Hold on, I'm getting a lecture!
Unseen Cinema -Experimental Cinema of the 40s and 50s, a DVD I think, covers a lot of avant garde films from that period.
Anyway, if I get him to come to Chicago with me, he could give you film chapter and verse in person!

8. My new running shoes should get here today. |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-07-07 01:13 PM by jobycom
Maybe they will make me feel guilty enough to start running again. :(
On edit: changed "shows" to "shoes" since that's what I meant. So if you thought I said "shows," it wasn't your imagination!
