I hate to say it. Ever since Muellers history making game, they're offense has dissapeared. They've lost 3 in a row to substandard teams

This really blows

1. The Curse is Alive and Well
If the Yanks win tonight we're 4.5 games behind and I think Oakland is sneaking up in the Wild Card. Shit.

3. It looks like history is repeating itself
30-something years of being a Sox fan kind of points that way. They have a really tough schedule coming up in August: at home and away against both the Mariners and the As, then at home and away with the Yanks. They cannot afford to lose to sub-par teams and still be in contention.

4. true but not yet time to jump ship
I was born in 1970 so I have seen the better part of the last 33 years, however I am not worried yet. remember the sox lost in extra inning in the central time zone and then flew to Baltimore where they jumped forward an hour and arrived early AM, it clearly affected them. but not to worry.

If they lose this series then you should be concerned but I dont see them losing two to the O's.

hang in there.

5. You're an optimist
I plan to hang on through the end of the season (we get to go to a lot of games).

Where was their offense? Burkett didn't pitch a bad game.

The Yankees better lose a few games so we can gain some ground.

6. there you go
remember if the offense gets hot and goes 10-0 the Yanks go 7-3 and we're right back in there. never mind the wildcard race.

I go to all weekend games, sect 4 box 86 row E seat 11, stop by and say hello.

Has this been goin' on?
(name that tune...
No, name that team.)
Guys, I don't want to sound like a condescending old fart, but I started following this team when Teddy Ballgame was still the left-fielder. This is classic Red Sox. Yesterday, the world was practically giving them the championship and Theo was the reincarnation of Branch Rickey. Today: 3 losses in a row. You know what, guys, this is what the Patriots are for...to get us through stretches like this.

8. I agree
being from Boston, the glass is always half-empty anyway. Having the Red Sox as your hometown team validates this view.

I try to be an optimist but I am so used to this August slide. The Ranger pitching sucks and they took 2 out of 3 from us. you won't see that happen to the Yankees.

9. I will continue to hope..
until it becomes statistically impossible to do so. When they finally win the WS(and they will),it will be a state holiday here in MA the like of which has never been seen. I just wish they'd hurry up...I'd like it to be in my lifetime:(

16. Not just in MA
They're the New England team. All 6 states will declare holidays. (Ok, only half of CT.)

I don't give up until it's mathematically impossible to win. I've been doing this every year since the mid 60s so I'm used to it. I don't care, they're still my guys!!!

12. Optimists: Sox August Schedule
7 games with Oakland
6 games with Seattle
2 with Toronto
3 with Yanks

Hopefully they can gain some ground against Anaheim and Baltimore, 'cause I don't have much faith that we'll be in contention in Sept.

14. Texas taking two out of three. Ouch!
I felt the same way. But remember, Texas also swept the Yankees earlier this year in New York. Who knows what will happen.

Watching the series down here in the DFW area, I was wondering where the hell Nixon got the name "Trot." I know rabid Red Sox fans could answer that one for me.

God bless Tex Schramm and Tom Landry.
