Noticed something weird at work today |

In 2003 we lost two cats. One was our calico Persian mix; she died of old age. We called her Chewy.
The other was our shorthaired calico; I think she died of a broken heart because the only cat in the house that liked her was the longhaired calico. We called her Puddin.
During the Christmas season, the sign shop across the street sent us one of those huge tins of popcorn. This one had a pets' Christmas scene on it, complete with stockings hung by the fire.
One stocking was for "Chewy." Another was for "Puddin."

I've had kitties die of heartbreak too. They KNOW that something is gone from their lives. I had a cat, beautiful white fur: Hecuba She had a litter and I kept three white kittens: one male. They were the Hecubrats: Huey, Dewi, and Louise. Dewi had two green eyes, Louise had two blue eyes and Huey had one of each. I would hold them in my arms with Huey in the middle and there they were: three blue eyes and three green. Huey and Louise were deaf: I could push a running vacuum cleaner right up to Huey and he didn't know it was there until it touched him. Some one stloe Huey and Louise. Dewi died within two weeks. I've had calicos, too. I have a long-hair now: Phoenecia, who is as pretty a cat as you will ever see. She is ABSOLUTELY convinced that she is the princess-of-the-Universe.
