My computer is not updating the time |
|
I have had to change it manually twice now. It has the update installed from Microsoft. When I turned it on this morning, I saw the time wasn't right so I adjusted it but it turned the time back! So I have adjusted it again. I hope it works this time. Strange, because my laptop seems okay.

1. Trash it and get a new one immediately! |

Damn that uncooperative piece of plastic to hell.
I should add that a refurbished desktop that we bought last month has a dead internal batery so the time and date have been wrong from the get go. No biggie though I don't usually are what time it is.

It's possible that you may have it on a time zone like Arizona that doesn't do DST. XP will automatically sync its clock to a time server, and if it's set to the wrong time zone, it will be an hour off.
And as for computers with dead internal batteries, I believe those batteries are standard lithium coin batteries. You should be able to get a replacement at Best Buy or even a grocery store.

3. The check box that says "adjust automatically fro DST" |
|
was not checked. So I guess that's why.
