1. Chuck Berry's Carol
Edited on Tue Mar-13-07 04:04 PM by taterguy
It's about cars, dancing and getting laid which makes it the perfect rock and roll song.

The Ben Folds Five song you mentioned is a fine song but it does not rock because there's no guitar.
ps: Sweet Jane was originally a Velvet Underground song even though you might prefer some subsequent version by Lou Reed

4. I like the live Sweet Jane...
I know the VU did that but Lou was in the band so...

Ben Folds has a kick ass bass line in the song...

Doesn't need a guitar...

7. You can not rock without a guitar
Ronald Thomas Clontle said it. I believe it. That settles it.

Anyone unfamiliar with the work of Ronald Thomas Clontle is unqualified to give opinions on rock.

Until you brought up the piano...

Remember, I am old enough to remember when they played Elvis, Jerry Lee and Litle Richard on the AM radio...

So I forget...

3. Who Do You Love
A rock song so good it's been covered a bazzillion times. I like Bo Diddley's original and versions by Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks, Townes Van Zandt, George Thorogood and that anonymous band on the Nuggets compilation

It's nice to see he's still making a living at playing music.

31. Oh yeah!
One of the best clips ever. Right before that he does some playing that is fantastic, then he goes into the song. I taped that when it initially ran and I watched that clip about 100 times..lol. Johnny is one of the best blues players ever. I liked Stevie Ray to a point, but I could never understand how people thought he was a better blues player than Johnny.
