Bands with guts
Most bands stick to the same genre, and all there albums sound the same. What bands do you know that have the stugats to try something different every album?

I'll say U2, at least throught the 90s. And maybe, 54-40.

1. Well Faith no More for one
These guys did something RADICALLY different every album, and it didn't always work. But they had the cajones to try at least.

2. The mark for me of a great song...
is whether I still like to listen to it years later. "Epic" by Faith No More is a great rock song for me. I still love it and it's been how long since it came out? :-)

Thanks for the reminder - gotta go dig my copy out and crank it up and annoy the neighbors.

10. Faith no More is my favorite band of all time!

abynthesugar, you are now on my list!!! (of people that rock)

That band always will have a special place in my heart and they always did whatever the fuck they wanted.

Mike Patton is still doing that right now, and all of his music is challenging and awesome...

Such an innovative band.

Also, Einsturzende Neubauten, Elvis Costello, Trail of Dead.

They all push the envelope.

6. Rage Against the Machine.
They challenged the notion that we can trust our politicians. They stood up for what they believe in made good social commentary. Tom Morello is also one of the best modern rock guitarists. I wish they were around to counteract George Bush's America. I like Audioslave though.

11. i follow em pretty closely...
Edited on Sat Jan-10-04 04:12 PM by LastKnight
and ive never heard that... mabye one or two of them did that but i doubt the whole band did. if they cant spend the money that they make whats the point of making it. they never made that much compared to bands of equal status, most of thier touring money went to causes, foundations, ect.

i mean Morello has done craploads for labor unions and lead rallies and whatnot against sweatshops and corporations using them. i could be wrong too though. never know... but the music is good.
