Anyone here seen Idiocracy?
It is a movie from Mike Judge and it is absolutely fantastic. It is a tale of how shows like Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader and American Idol, are the fact that smart people aren't having kids anymore the collective intelligence is going down. If you are looking for a movie to check out, you could do much worse than this.

1. Can't this be a movie that sort of advocates eugenics?

2. I thought it was satire about American culture, rather than a call for eugenics.
The stupid people in the movie come from a long line of stupid people, but are also stupid by choice. They are the result of a society that glorifies shallowness and materialism, while vilifying smart people.

3. Now
It's supposed to take place 500 years in the future, though I see much of it now with willfull ignorance and consumerism.

4. Yes. Last week in fact. There were some great scenes but...
...man it was depressing. It was like watching the World turn into one giant Jerry Springer show...

My #1 favorite was the conversation over what to use on the crops: Water or Gatorade. Good gawd.

"But it's got electrolytes!" "Do you even know what electrolytes are?"

6. It's passable for a rental but get a backup movie, too.
It's not Mike Judge's best work and it suffers from some really bad editing. I'd be curious enough to take a second look if they ever put out a director's cut.
