Have you ever had to bathe a cat? |
|
I did- twice.
Nothing can describe the look of a cat in mid-bath. It's a combination of shame, rage, and vile hatred.

1. Once when she was little |
|
And before she was declawed.
It was NOT a pleasant experience. She made her hate of her situation known.

My kitten got into the older cat's dental formula food. He couldn't swallow it properly, so it mixed in with his saliva. When he groomed himself, he smelled terrible. we thought we may have had a special needs kitty before we figured it out. :D

3. The bath I gave my cat was a flea bath. |
|
Or then kitten.
It was pretty obvious that I needed to get rid of said flea problem. So, she was given a flea bath, which she detested. Loathed, hated, despised. And I had the scratch marks on my arms to prove it.
Now, she's content grooming herself. And I'm content with her grooming herself. :-)

4. My cat has jumped into the bathtub twice. She had that same look you describe, both times |
|
If she does it again my wife and I are going to have her committed ;)

and we had to give him a tomato juice bath to kill the skunk smell. He looked pathetic. It was awful. I felt so guilty, but the smell was so bad we had no choice.

6. I know I will get flamed for this but... |
|
The one time I bathed my cat she had that look too. I tried not to laugh but I just couldn't control myself. It was the cruel side of me, but I just couldn't help it.
Cats have this sense of pride and superiority - and giving them a bath kind of cuts them down a knotch.

7. Why would I flame you? |
|
There's nothing cruel about laughing at the sight of a drenched cat shaking with rage. doing it for the sole purpose of watching it seethe is cruel, yes, but not if your trying to up their hygiene.

9. True - the reason was to get petromalt out of her fur |
|
in places she could not lick.
But I know some cat police people who would fry me on a stick for laughing at a cat...

8. you can't help but laugh at the look |
|
that doesn't make you a terrible person. When my cat was a kitten, we learned that we had to keep the toilet lid down because he once jumped up, not realizing the bowl was open, fell in and couldn't get out. Once we rescued him from his plight, we laughed because he looked like a wet rat.
