1. Some years ago, I sprained an ankle by stepping on a rock and |
|
rolling my ankle. Foolishly, I tried to shake it off and proceeded to walk on it for two hours while teaching class. It was usable, but over the next few months it kept turning under me at odd intervals until I was afraid I was going to break my ankle. the doctor sent me for some physical therapy. Several heat treatments & some exercises and it was healed. If you can swing it, that's the way I'd go.

2. Once You Weaken An Ankle |

it is amazing how easily it will turn again
if it is that easy to turn you may want to do some strengthening exercises, or hell, just get some e-coli injections in there and amputate the sucker off when it rots :puke:
sorry, the e-coli thing is running it's course :puke: oh, that didn't sound right either...

Really.
I've had my ankles screwed up for the last nine months off and on. Just getting over a bout of gout which I finally kicked with the help of Indomethacin - that's a really good NSAID if you can get it. 5 days ago I was hobbling and now I'm walking.
Get your leg elevated, ice packs, NSAID's and then when it heals start physio - get some Therabands and do ankle exercises.
If you don't already know, take NSAID's way past when you think you need them to cut the inflammation and pain. They need to stay in your system and if you stop, your body flushes them pretty quickly.

5. I rolled mine super bad on Wednesday. |
|
I still can't walk without a limp.
It feels like it's getting stronger, and I can put weight on it now, but the act of shifting weight from the heel to the front when you walk is filled with much pain.
I was really sweating it for the first couple of days. Thought I was going to have to go to the doctor for sure (no insurance) but it seems to be improving now.
The funny thing is that it never really got all that swollen. My knee however was quite puffy.
Oh well. Hang in there!

8. ouch! I feel ya though.. i just blew out my ankle AND knee last sunday |
|
I still can't walk without crutches, but it's getting better slowly. Like the person upthread, I didnt go to the doctor, because I have no insurance. It's not the first time either. I blew the same knee out 5 years ago and never had it checked... no insurance.
What is it that they say? "whatever don't kill ya will only make ya stronger"?
