Do you believe in karma? Do you believe that bad shit happens to people because they deserve it? |

I wish I could, but it seems like the bad people get all the breaks and the good people get shit.
But I could quickly change my mind if some of our current really bad people ... well, you know ...

21. It may seem that way on the surface... |
|
"it seems like the bad people get all the breaks..."
but just as some illnesses or handicaps aren't apparent on the surface, I believe their lives are deficient in that bad people never really know the true wealth that comes of loving and being loved unconditionally, above any doubt, and with no strings attached. There is a darkness that lurks in the void where their soul should be that can't be erased by any of the material successes or breaks that are apparent in their lives.

You may not believe it, but I have actually agreed with you on numerous occasions. Perhaps I should make more of an effort to convey that, instead of just commenting when we disagree? ;)

4. Yes, I believe in karma. I also believe in reincarnation, so even if they... |
|
don't experience the karma during this life, I believe that they ultimately will.
However, I don't think that every bad thing that happens to someone is because of karma.

6. I did until Katrina made it clear that... |
|
bad shit happens to good people for no reason other than chance.
I still like to hold on to the notion though, that if you fuck with people's lives, it WILL come back to haunt you, some way, some how, some time. I think that most people do, and that's what makes living on this globe with utter assholes tolerable.

That way of looking at things doesn't explain why bad things happen to so many good people, or why so many bad people have so many good things happen to them.
I don't believe in it any more than I believe that nonsense about "the Secret" - how having positive thoughts and energy will bring all your dreams to fruition. To me, that's an insult to all the strong, positive, upbeat people (many of them kids) who've died of horrible diseases or live in poverty.
Life is more complex than that.

I don't believe in karma. And even though it's supposed to be a balancing energy, it's almost more of a fear thing. Not fear, but the key concept is that what goes around comes around. So then the motivation is still what would happen to you.
