Alley Cat has gone to the rainbow bridge
Alley was a beautiful med hair gray and white tuxedo cat. My daughter and I visited a cat rescue 7 years ago and had our choice of 20 kittens all about 4 months to 9 months old. While we were sitting on the floor playing with them all a little girl cam over and shyly sat next to us, not pushing for attention or jumping an running like the others. We looked down and noticed she only had one eye and a bit of a deformed face. My daughter who was 7 at the time felt sorry for her so home she came. She acted more like a dog in that she greeted us at the door, loved to be cuddled and petted and was over all the most gentle loving kitty ever.

Four years ago she was diagnosed with sever asthma, so severe she was put on daily dose of predisone, usually had two major attacks each year where she needed to be hospitalized. I spent quite a bit of money-thousands that I didn't have but put on the credit card, took her to the Univ of PA for tests and eventually monthly steroid shots. She was my baby. Unfortunately this time she was not responding to the medicine nor the treatment as she did in the past.

We mad the tough decision last Sunday to euthanize her. I knew it was time when she did not respond to our voice or presence when we went to visit her in the oxygen cage.

It was difficult, we cried, we mourned, and we brought her home after the cremation.

I miss her. She brought joy to our lives and we gave her the best home we could. Even with her deformity she was the most beautiful cat to us.

Rest in Peace Alley Cat, we love you!

7. for alley cat
Poem For Cats

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

8. You did the right thing, my dear Alleycat.......
She was no longer having fun here.........

And it was time to let her go......

And so you did.......

Our sick babies rely on us to do that when they can't go on living...

She will always be part of you, a big part......

That which is remembered....lives...

The loss is obviously very difficult for you, and nothing will take that away.

I hope there is some comfort for you in rescuing her, and giving her a good life. It sounds like there was(and still is) lots of love for both sides.

These stories always do.

I'm sorry for you and your family and Alley Cat.

I'm not religious, but I'll say "bless you" for the love and care you gave her. I don't care if you rob banks for a living, I like people like you that have a heart for animals.

38. Sorry Alleycat!
for your loss

kitties are hard to let go of...for me anyway.

it was hard to euthanize my cat, but it's harder to watch them suffer in any way shape or form. Mine was hit by a car and broke it's tail and damaged the nerve that controlled his bladder. I guess they don't make indwelling foley catheters for cats, I had to squeeze his bladder 3 times a day and give him pills as often with the hope that he would regain bladder function. After a few weeks the vet and i agreed that his bladder function wasn't likely to return, he would start having a gag reflex when he saw me because i was giving him pills. he just lay around and felt bad, so i knew it was time.

again, sorry friend
