1. Bob Dylan - Rolling Thunder Revue - I never got to see a show but I love the band of gypsies concept. My favorite Dylan era is when he reunited with The Band in 1974 and went on to form the Revue.
2. Michelle Shocked - Arkansas Traveler - Michelle did a roots rock revue in the early 90's. I got to see Michelle backed by Uncle Tupelo, The Band, Allison Krauss, and Taj Mahal.

I saw the Dallas performance. My wife, who knew absolutely nothing about Rush, came away from that show saying "those guys are fantastic!"

Great shows. And then for something totally different Blue Oyster Cult and Black Sabbath together with Ronnie James Dio as lead singer for Sabbath.

I brag about Nina, so what  But I llooove her so much, I'll never forget the show for even a day. She was at DC's Consitution Hall, and once she stood up and yelled about Resident Bush "Get him the fuck out of there!" and everybody cheered but one stupid couple got up and left the show.. LEFT a Nina show, goes to show how smart the proud republicans are.

We're an alt-country, of sorts, gospel band, so we slowed it down and we have one of the guys in our band trying to belt it out, obviously not like Nina, but rather well, I think.

Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 02:08 PM by EOO
Man, that was fucking incredible. They had a massive stage and the audiences for both shows I went to were fantastic. Toots & The Maytals (one of my favorite reggae acts) opening for the Angel Stadium show was an added bonus as well.
I'm also very much looking forward to the upcoming Rock The Bells tour (Rage, Nas, Mos Def, Public Enemy, Wu Tang Clan, MF Doom, and several others). For that lineup, I would have easily paid double what I did.

|
Just because so few people saw it -- they got into a fight and canceled the tour after the first night in Philadelphia.
Followed by Jimmy Buffett's "Fruitcakes" tour, just because it was my Perfect Buffett setlist.
And yes, I'm painfully old.

|
Saw the Stones in a 5,000 seat opera house, bare bones set, in '79. They kicked ass from begining to end.
Talking Heads at the Greek in '83, the same concert that Jonathan Demme saw and decided to make the "Stop Making Sense" movie about it. The concert was just amazing.

I saw it at Joe Louis Arena, not the later show at the Silverdome.
He played for 4 hours, with no warmup band and a very short intermission (20 minutes, max). Bruce gave his all in the concert, too, jumping and dancing all over the stage.

I saw him in Tallahassee about two-thirds of the way through the tour and he and the band were fantastic! After playing from 8:00-11:00, we called him out for an encore and he said "What time is it?" When someone told him that it was 11:00, he said, "We don't have to be up for five hours, let's play!" And I think they played about three more songs. I have been a big fan of his since then. He puts on a GREAT show. Go see him if you can!
