"COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP" |
|
That is what I heard loud and clear while watching Colbert last night.
I live in a secluded area , so naturally it scared the holy shit out of me.I peeked through the door and the road was crawling with cops . At first I thought something awful had happened to my friend Julie because she and I are the only two year round residents on this (private) road.
The house directly in front of mine is a summer cottage . I had no idea anyone was even there , but a guy came out with his hands in the air. They had a swat team, dogs , and about ten cops over there. I thought it was a break in . Julie came over this morning to tell me that she had been out walking in her yard when she heard a male voice shout "Do you WANT me to hit you again" ? and she went in her house and called 911. A few minutes later a stark naked girl who had been severely beaten appeared at her door. Julie said her face was swollen and bruised and her right eye was shut. The really sad part is she said she will not file charges against him because it was "her fault"
Damn
He is the brother of the owner of the cottage , and she asked Julie to not tell them what happened >She seemed determined to protect her attacker.
They are not married , and we have no idea who the girl is ,if she has family or anything about her.
I'm going to start locking my doors!

I was married to an abusive man for 8 years. One of their lovly tactics is screwing with your brain so badly that you honestly feel like you've asked for the abuse you're getting. They keep you off balance all the time, you never know when they're going to go off on you and when they do, you think it must be your fault because they tell you it is.
Abusive relationships are a complicated psychological nightmare. Many cops are not trained in how to deal with them properly and look at the abused person with disgust and contempt. Hell, I used to until I understood what goes on in them.
I never, ever called the cops on my husband for a number of reasons but the main one was because if I had, and he got off, I knew the abuse I suffered would be that much worse. I expected to die at his hands. I only divorced him when he was arrested and convicted of another charge. When I heard he was getting out 3 years later, I slept with a loaded shotgun. Even now, 7 years later and 3000 miles away, I still fear him and I hate him for it.
Poor kid. I hope she survives this guy.
