Their reality competition shows have turned that channel into a bad joke.

Given the movie is a satire of the original show, rather than 'updating' the show for 'modern audiences' (who, as with the Bullwinkle movie, wouldn't know jack diddle about the Brady Bunch show...), there is something fresh in that movie that 'The Beverly Hillbillies', 'The Avengers', 'I Spy', and any number of tv-show-made-as-movie films clearly lack.
TBBM is a sharp-witted self-satirical play that uses the same characters, mannerisms and all, but has real-life reality surrounding their fenced cozy home; this incompatible juxtaposition is what makes it much more than what the usual movies-from-old-tv genre typically is. A surprising success.
Of course, I ought to watch it again...
And from what I recall, AVBS was more of the same, though this time it jumped the fence and put the behind the scenes juicy details of the stars being interested in each other in a new context: Greg + Marcia's characters. That was a bit much, but there's a lot in that sequel that makes up for it too.
Still, knowing Bravo's typical line-up, I see nothing out of place for TBBM.

6. I'm embarrassed to admit I like TBBM |
|
And this from a guy who respects the culture and class of filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick and Ingmar Bergman. Alfred Hitchcock once said one of his favorite movies was Smokey And The Bandit.
Go figure.

11. It could have been an interesting movie... |
|
If Mike and Carol Brady had been played by, say, John Malkovich and Angelica Huston. That would have been interesting.
