Restaurant Bans Rowdy Matcom

Boston Public Health Commission Passes Matcom Ban

The Boston Public Health Commission unanimously approved a health regulation
yesterday to ban Matcom in Boston restaurants. The ban, which takes effect
on April 3 2007, calls for no Matcoms in all Boston restaurants,
regardless of size, with some provisions for restaurants with bars.

The Boston Mayor praised the ban saying “I commend the Boston Public Health
Commission for acting swiftly and thoroughly on this issue. This regulation
directly addresses a major public health concern. Our process ensured that
we weighed the concerns of restaurants, as well as the public health concerns
of those who eat and work in these restaurants, and Matcom was a threat.”

David Mulligan, Commissioner of the Boston Public Health Commission
said, “I’m very pleased with our process and resulting regulation. This
really addresses a broad range of issues brought by the public - the most
important of these being the protection of health in Boston from Matcoms.”
