 :yoiks: OK, so I went out at lunchtime, and everything was fine. I have to use a narrow two-lane road to get in and out of the college campus where I work, and traffic was moving as usual when I left. There is a "general store" (read: glorified convenience store) on that narrow road near the corner of the main street that runs between there and a larger university. This general store serves as a beer, rolling paper, and cigarette outlet for three college/university campuses. But when I was trying to get back to the office, three very large beer trucks were blocking the road, apparently trying to restock the beer supplies there. One truck straddled the yellow line, making it impossible to pass on either side. The other two trucks were parked in the road, blocking the right lane completely. A major traffic jam was in progress, and I got caught right in the middle of it. A cop pulled up just as things were getting heated. Drivers were honking, and a couple of particularly agitated guys were yelling things. The cop went inside the store and came back out with the drivers, and he made them move the trucks. :bounce: :woohoo: He was in the process of writing up tickets for those lovely beer truck mavens when I was finally able to move my car. Geez, what a bunch of idiots... :P

1. I get an hour for my lunch at work |

I came out one day to find that a Coke truck was parked behind my car and several others, blocking them in. The delivery guy was walking away with a dolly load of coke so I hollered to him and told him I needed to get out. He yelled he'd be back in five minutes.
He wasn't even delivering to our store! And he wasn't back in five minutes - it was more like 15 - time for me to go into my store and ask our receiver to call Coke and complain.
When I got back outside, the guy wandered back (slowly) and I chewed him out, told him he was blocking OUR customers (and myself) to deliver to another place entirely and that he needed to park in the back where there was room.
"If I do that," he said with a nasty smirk, "I'll have to walk farther."
I got right in his face and asked him, "Do I look like I give a fuck how far you have to walk?"
I've worked in shipping and receiving. I know there are places that are tough to get in and out of and I know these guys are on a schedule. But c'mon!
(found out later he got chewed out by his dispatcher. :) )

3. Truck drivers must have been sampling the product they were delivering. |
|
I know, I know, not all truck drivers are idiots (hi, liberaltrucker! We love you! ) but I hate the ones who think the size of their vehicle entitles them to act like jerks.
:hi: NWC! How are you today, gorgeous?

Glad to hear you'll have a day to sleep in tomorrow. I know you've been working real hard lately.

4. In Wisconsin, beer trucks have right-of-way and flashing lights |
|
The weather might suck, but the beer trucks run on time.
