Coming soon from the director of Playboy Video Centerfold: Kerri Kendall
and Great White's "Call It Rock N' Roll" video:

Transformers 2!

The trailer makes me scared. It's like watching what I'm pretty sure is going to be a train wreck, but I'm unable to turn away until I see the metal fly.

Anyone else feeling trepidatious? Or am I as alone in this as I am in Ninja Turtles?

1. Why do I feel like you're my age (25) or younger?
Anyhoo, I won't be seeing either of these. There's something to be said for the low-budget charm of Saturday morning cartoons versus the grotesquely overblown scale of a cinematic blockbuster.

If they'd let me into the theater in my PJ's with a bowl full of Cheerios? Maybe.

3. I am around there, yup indeed.
I went to see TMNT last night. It wasn't... awful. That's about the best I could say.

I'm gonna have to see Transformers, just because... it's Transformers. But, if there is no dance party on a garbage planet, I might have to walk out.

Was there a Transformers 1?

That ate entire planets...

I mean, Welles was pretty fat the last couple years of his life but... :D

29. Sadly, it was Orson Welles' last movie role.
all that great work, and his last film is a cartoon about robot cars.

Edited on Mon Apr-09-07 08:32 AM by GirlinContempt

But seriously, he'll always be Charles Foster Kane. Doing some great voice acting for a movie won't change that. Hot Money was pretty terrible, and it was in his final few, and it had nothing to do with robots *shrug*

35. A better final remembrance, IMO
Would be his last appearance on Merv Griffin, where he demonstrated some basic stage magic and was generally his larger than life self.

Also, he shot the introduction for a special black-and-white episode of ABC's then-wildly-popular show Moonlighting, which I held to be a nice nod to his remarkable work in that style.

Both closely preceded his demise.

And let's not overlook his work on those Paul Masson wine tv spots, nor his fine presence in commercials for the Dark Tower boardgame.

And who could forget his one-line cameo in The Muppet Movie a few years earlier?

It stinks that his last work wasn't his greatest, but in the end it doesn't matter. At least Raul Julia was able to shuffle off this mortal coil without leaving Street Fighter as the capper to his curriculum vitae...

25. 29 here
This was a big part of my childhood, I cried when Prime died...
I was the perfect age for the 1984-85 Transformers toy blitz, still
got a few but they are a wreck as I actually played with em. Lets
just say that the previews for the new movie don't exactly fill
me with hope... But hey Pearl Harbor was so good so how can we go
wrong :sarcasm:
PS Kerri Kendall was hot back then :)

2. Great White? Isn't that the band whose "show" killed all those people in Rhode Island?
If that's the case, I'm not interested in their video.

8. Yeah, that's the band.
One of the band members died in that very same fire.

As far as the "Transformers" movie, It is a Michael Bay film. I don't know how this guy keeps getting money for his films because they are usually pretty awful. Big budget, big action, big effects and no plot. His last movie was "The Island" with Scarlett Johansen and Ewan MacGregor. Need I say more?

I'll see just about anything. So I will wind up going to see it anyway.

12. Transformers, as in the toys? I remember when my older son was young, it was that dark time
when all the cartoons were nothing but shills for lines of toys, and Transformers wss one of them.

Is the movie about THOSE Transformers?

13. Transformers was a comic.
And, Transformers was brilliant. And Transformers were cool toys. And a television series. And a movie.

How's anything changed? Welcome to pseudo-capitalism: If it's popular, it will sell. If it will sell, make anything you can out of it and sell it.

You betcha! The same ones!

You see my point! Michael Bay was able talk a big movie studio into financing 10's of millions dollars for another mediocre to lousy film based on toys that most kids don't even play with anymore.
This was the same director who put out "Pearl Harbor" with Ben Afleck, a movie I thought was insulting to anyone who served in WWII

Go to Yahoo-Movies and you can check out the teasers if you feel like it. Be warned though.

What's with the reference to Kerri Kendall? She was a former centerfold, something like 15 or 16 years ago.

Hence the "from the director of" preface.

22. Ah! That allays my confusion
I looked up "Transformers 2" at IMDB, then "Kerri Kendall," and found no relationship between them.

Couldn't figure out how that ditz became a director of anything except maybe her own line of areola make-up.

23. Aha! Now it becomes clear! It all makes so much sense now!
No wonder his movies are shallow and pointless. He cut his directing teeth filming Playboy models undressing themselves and showing off to the camera!
Doesn't look like he's become much deeper since the early 90s, that's for sure.

They just want to make money. Any quality film that comes out of the Hollywood system is a mere coincidence.
