11. Ed Fallon is way cool
but is it really necessary to include 'famous' skateboarders and a no-name tennis player, when you have such a long list? But I suppose if you start excluding people that Ed Fallon would be on the chopping block too.

16. Meh, I just cut and pasted off of Wikipedia.
Incidentally, this list used to have an pompous, obnoxious dude from my High School class on it, someone I always considered my enemy--until someone figured out he wasn't actually that famous or notable and deleted his Wiki entry.

Heh heh heh....

6. Cal Eldred? Is he famous?
Why, for having an ERA of 6.4?

(Okay, he pitched a few good games for the Brewers, but tanked more than once too)

My famous list is Hubert H. Humphrey (sorta) and Cheryl Ladd and Rod DeHaven

You may have to google that last one
http://www.letsrun.com/dehaven.html
But that says he was born in Sacramento, although he graduated from my high school (and also did not do well at the Olympics)

Gladys Pyle, who is not very famous, was the first woman to win an election to the US Senate.

as is Allegro from above. Families know each other, vaguely-aquaintance thing. I didn't know him, though. I know he moved at a relatively young age and is a few years older than I am.

(The "discovery" came up when I was watching a movie w/ an aunt. He was on the screen and I said to her "He's from Kenosha." She asked his name, I said it, she asked his age and then she said "That can't be-I know someone w/ that same name but-well, he'd be an adult now.")

Sooner or later they are all related in Kenosha. (Hell, I'm one of the few multigenerational non-Italians from Kenosha and even I'm related into a few of the families by marriage.) And Ruffalo's has awesome pizza.

But still-how could you forget about Big Al? He was numero uno in the seventies in Kenosha, what w/ his plugs for Kenosha on Happy Days!

98. No, I'm in Virginia now. We wanted to buy a house and everything was too expensive in MD
so we moved to Virgina. For an extra $100,000, we moved from a two-bedroom condo to a 2200 sg. ft, 3-bedroom house with a 4-car garage and a 1/2 acre of land. Are you still living near Hyattsville? Do you remember any favorite teachers from NW? I think one or two of them might still be there. I didn't get to deal with the new superintendant but most of us were excited about his coming. He has a tough job!

Oh wait...There was an Algebra teacher...Walter Welch. He was a nice guy; but not a favorite teacher. I used to fall asleep in his class!

I'm surprised it's cheaper in VA than in PG County. We're in Riverdale.

And yes, I met Brett Favre a couple of times when he was a bratty junior high kid (he wouldn't remember, we didn't talk, he was just this guy my best friend's sister pretended she didn't have a crush on), and I knew Matt Lawton's brother a little (Marcus also played baseball, but was injured and never made it in the majors, aside from a couple of weeks with the Mets. He spent a lot of time in the minors, though). Buffet had moved on before I started school.

of faded glory, good intentions, desperate measures, and good old grit. i was there for a ceramics conference, and spent time in all the little art galleries. and that restaurant, proof- have you been there? crazy art. just crazy.

but it was a unique experience.

But seriously ... O Henry (Samuel Porter) , and Edward R. Murrow are from my town. And Joey Cheek. I don't know him but we went to the same high school. He was a year ahead of me. I only remember seeing him once because he was already training for the Gold. It felt so good seeing him win because he was working for it so long.

125. There's a handful from Orange, TX
Bum Phillips, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown (blues singer who died a couple years back), and Bobby Kimball from Toto. I looked on Wikipedia and they include Edgar and Johnny Winter, but I don't count them 'cause they were actually born in Beaumont, and if I included everyone from Beaumont that would be cheating. If I included Port Arthur I'd get to say Janis Joplin but I'm trying not to cheat! (Although I already kind of am by including Brown who was born in nearby Vinton, Louisiana, but grew up in Orange.)

144. First, i have to define "home town"...
I was born in Hialeah FL, but only lived there until i was 5.
Famous people from Hialeah:
Harry Casey - KC and the Sunshine Band
Bucky Dent - former shortstop for the Yanks
Ted Hendricks - NFL Hall-of-Famer (Oakland Raiders), whom my mom dated in high school

I grew up in Charlotte NC
a few of the local celebrities:
Randolph Scott
Harry Golden
Ric Flair
Si Kahn - whose son i was friends with in the '80's
Rich Hall (The "Sniglets" guy)
Hugh McColl (the head of Bank of America)
Billy Graham - the evangelist, not the pro wrestler
and
Carrot Top - he was a frequent shopper in the store i managed, and when he came in, we NEVER got anything done, because everything he picked up was funny

157. Jim Otis from Celina Ohio
Edited on Sun Apr-15-07 10:14 PM by Decruiter
http://imgred.com/
Otis was a fullback for the Ohio State University Buckeyes from 1967-69. He led the team in rushing every year of his college career.
In 1969 he was as a consensus first-team All-America selection, and was seventh in the vote for the Heisman Trophy.
Otis was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 1970. The following year he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Otis' most successful year as a professional was in 1975, when he rushed for 1,076 yards and was selected to the Pro Bowl.

His dad, Dr. Jim, delivered me into this world. As well as my brothers and my mother.
My mother knew that she could not count on Dr. Jim if the Bucks were playing. He would be at the game.
Subsequently, I was born on a Wednesday.

But folks around here seem to think that was cute instead of arrogant. Go figure.
