Rotten nasty fanses! (My experience at Andy Serkis book signing tonight)
Edited on Tue Jan-13-04 01:44 AM by Rabrrrrrr
Rabrrrrrr went to the Andy Serkis signing tonight at the Barnes and Noble at Unions Square, yes he did, even gots there an hour early, didn't he, precioussss? Yessssss, and it was already full of filthy johnny-come-latelies-to-LOTR so precious had to stand for an hour waiting, didn't he? Yesssssss. Gollum. Gollum. Played trickses on Rabrrrrrr they did, yesss.

The place was packed - I figured getting there an hour early would work just fine - it worked for Al Franken and Neal Stephenson. But golly heck, the seating area - and it must seat 400-500 people was plum filled up, plus there were a few hundred already standing around.

Good talk by Serkis, though he only went for about a half hour. He read a bit from his book, answered some questions, and also did, live, the bit from Two Towers when Gollum is talking to himself. Fantastic!!

That alone was worth the wait. But I did not get the book to have him sign it, since I was sure I'd be standing in line for close to two hours to get it signed. I'm very disappointed about that, but I wasn't so keen on the book anyway, so not terribly disappointed.

And even though I had to stand all that time, and was really, really far away, I could at least see him, and it was well worth the wait to hear him speak. Yes, precioussss.

3. Oh, okay. Good. Andy Serkis deserves an Oscar.
Anyone who can create a character like that deserves top honors.
