songs you absolutely hate
started at dailykos....I have two

Knights in White Satin - Moody Blues

Horse with no Name - can't remember

Both are repetitious and boring to me.

What are yours?

But let's just say whatever the current single by Fergie is at the moment. This is accurate in perpetuity throughout time and space.

The fact that she gets killed in Planet Terror amused me, haha. Even if it's just a movie, it was consolation for all the horrid music she's unleashed on the world.

4. "Sk8r Boi" (even the title offends me) by Avril Lavigne
I was in middle school when that came out, so I couldn't walk twenty feet without stepping in it.

"My Humps" by the Black-Eyed Peas
I have a really difficult time imagining them sitting around, writing this song and thinking it needed to see the light of day.

12. For some reason this song came to mind....

I got a new life
You would hardly recognize me
Im so glad
How can a person like me care for you
Why do I bother
When youre not the one for me
Is enough enough
I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes
I saw the sign
Life is demanding without understanding
I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes
I saw the sign
No ones gonna drag you up
To get into the light where you belong
But where do you belong
Under the pale moon
For so many years Ive wondered
Who you are
How can a person like you bring me joy
Under the pale moon
Where I see a lot of stars
Is enough enough
I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes
I saw the sign
Life is demanding without understanding
I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes
I saw the sign
No ones gonna drag you up
To get into the light where you belong
But where do you belong
I saw the sign and it opened up my mind
And I am happy now
Living without you
Ive left you all alone
I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes
I saw the sign
No ones gonna drag you up
To get into the light where you belong
I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes
I saw the sign

16. Everything Nelly has ever recorded.
Proof that a 12 word vocabulary and six non-synchronized continuous loops on repeat can in fact make a song.

It's not that I hate hip-hop...I hate bad hip-hop. The stuff where you can tell the artist isn't even making an effort. Every Nelly song sounds like something I could have recorded in my garage and mixed on my PC.

29. "I'm So Tired" is one of my faves
I really related to it back in my "bad old days" of drugs and excess.

"Fool on the Hill," though, is probably the only Beatles song that I wish fascists would round up and destroy all existing copies of.

Song makes me want to pierce my own carotid with a shard of broken glass.

I guess I managed to make it out of Desert Storm era with musical memories of Nirvana, NIN, Ministry, and White Zombie. So many memories, in fact, that they're crowding out the others, and I've never heard of this song before.

And wish to god I never had.

You win the contest, IMO. Shit, I'd rather spend eternity in Hell listening to John Ashcroft letting his eagle soar than another ten seconds of this.

So, I'll just add that horrible "Wildfire" song from the 70's about a horse that freezes in the snow, or some such thing. And I really hate the song, "American Pie."

44. Love both of those songs, actually...
...and can't really think of a song I hate, offhand. There's plenty of music that I don't like, to be sure, but it just doesn't stick in my mind. I don't listen to the radio that much, so I'm not subjected to stuff I wouldn't choose to listen to.

154. I was on the subway 2 weeks ago after a Giants game. True story!
Anyway, these 4 young guys (drunk) who were at the game get on the subway and start singing Seger's "Turn the Page" at the top of their lungs. Of course, they only knew the first four lines. After that, they would use their "nasal voice" to imitate the sax solo. :eyes:

I thought I was gonna die.

People who heard only Sundance's stiff version on AI would be surprised at the original. Moody Blues are great in general IMO.

A few recent ones I really dislike:

"Wind It Up" by Gwen Stefani - and I love Gwen usually

"My Humps" - Black Eyed Peas

"Photograph" - Nickelback

*Anything by Air Supply. They just make me wanna gouge my eyes out. :yoiks:

*Any music from the following genres: hip-hop/rap, New Country (whatever the fuck that's supposed to be), industrial noise, Yoko Ono (yeah, she's got her own genre in my mind, although it's closest to industrial noise), and sappy, saccharine pop music from any time period (this includes Diz-Nee Radio and such bullshit). This is not intended to offend anyone who likes any of this crap---it's just me being honest.

American Pie!!! That was a cool song! Our gradeschool class had a phonograph and and our teacher would let us play songs and dance for awhile (I was too shy to participate, but oh well!) That song would get played over and over again so much, he'd say, "Okay, it's American Pie Time!"

100. Where do I start?
Edited on Mon Apr-16-07 01:44 AM by socialdemocrat1981
Most songs of the soft rock genre -Nickelback especially but others too. There's one song from the soft rock genre on the radio -the name of which I can't remember -which gets played over and over again where the singer doesn't even know how to talk properly (he probably thinks that he sounds cool by slurring his words but in reality it sounds like * at a press conference following a night on the town with Paul Wolfowitz)

Anything by Madonna after "Frozen" (1996). Especially "Music" and "Beautiful Stranger". My dislike for Madonna's later music is ironic because I loved her earlier hits

My apologies MVD -almost any song by Kylie Minogue in the last ten years. She gets played so much on the radio here at the expense of other more talented artists and I think describing her more recent stuff as mediocre would be an insult to mediocrity.

"Upside Down" by Diana Ross.

"Shiver" by Natalie Imbruglia

Gwen Stefani's latest.

"Knock On Wood" by Ami Stewart

There are many others that don't come to mind at the moment

My first choice would have to be "Sing" by The Carpenters.

Insipid dreck:

Sing, sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad...

Oh, brother. :eyes:

Unfortunately, The Carpenters also sing my 2nd most hated song: "Top of the World".

And the third most hated is Sammy Davis, Jr.'s, "Candy Man". Retched. :puke:

Yeah, there is something about those two songs that makes me almost violent.

137. Has anyone ever heard that Christmas song about the little boy wanting to buy new
shoes for his ailing mother? Holy crap, it is the smarmiest, most gawd-awful piece of elephant dung I've ever heard. It's by some country artist and it's complete with a children's choir (of COURSE!) at the end.

I believe one of the lines goes something like "I want her to look beautiful, if Mama meets Jesus tonight!"

:puke:

Oh, and naturally the guy singing the song makes himself out to be the hero by giving the little boy enough money to buy the shoes.

and some bright blue eye shadow and lots of Aquanet so Mama has big hair for Jesus. He may be the Messiah, but he likes his women to look like tarts. Fellations 6:24... Look it up in the good book.

159. Anything by John Mayer. Especially "Waiting on the World to Change"
There has never been a more tragic soundtrack to apathy.

"Your body is a wonderland" comes in a close second, but may go down as the most unintentionally funny song in the past couple of years.

"Muskrat Love"

"blue velvet"

"Last Kiss"

McCartney's elevator music. Catchy but absolutely NO staying power. Weird chord progressions that don't make any sense.

168. Christmas music. All of it. Little Drummer Boy, Winter Wonderland, all of that shit.
However, if you're looking for something that is on radio before November and after the first week of January, there's this awful song called "This is How a Heart Breaks" or something like that. It's fucking terrible.
