If anyone cares, my husband's letter to the editor was printed today. |
|
In the March 21 article "Couples battle cancer together," perhaps Karen Bourque, a cancer survivor, would not besuch a "tried and true" Republican if she was aware of the fact President Bush has cut funding to the National Cancer Institute for the second year in a row.
Critical research studies are being canceled because of this. I am an oral cancer survivor, and some hospitals have stopped clinical trials for my type of cancer (as well as for breast cancer) because of this. This is not helping save lives.
One would think with all the money being wasted in Iraq, going to Halliburton or tax cuts for the wealthy, a compassionate conservative might adequately fund cancer research.
Honorable and ethical? No. Disgusting, but not surprising?Yes.

3. See...that's intelligent. |
|
Republicans don't understand intelligence. It conflicts with their internal echo chamber and ability to only read/hear what they want to read/hear.
It's a very nice letter though. I'm glad he's okay...oral cancers are a real bastard.
