I'm so HAPPY! I bought my sister a home!
My loan went through! My banker approved it! He's so nice! And now my wonderful big sister has a HOME! Brand spanking new! I'm so happy! She's never had anything so nice! And I got to give it to her! Oh my God!

11. I WISH I could be everyone's sister!
Oh, I would love to do things for all poor people. I do things for them, now, but it's not enough. My family is very poor, although they work themselves to the bone. And I have been fortunate enough to be successful in my business so that I can help them, and raise them up out of poverty. But, once I get done with them, LOOK OUT WORLD, here I come!

Seriously, I know that I can't do it all, but I can do it one family at a time, and make a dent in it. When I was on food stamps, my caseworker told me that she thought that the majority of the people in Texas were on food stamps because they had no car to get to a job. She said that was the major problem. I think I might begin there.

4. You must have a wonderful relationship with your sister
to go into debt to buy her a home.

Good for both of you. :)

17. It really wasn't much debt.
I saved a lot of money to pay down on it, before I bought it. The only reason I even got a loan was because I wanted to get her into it sooner. I could have saved the rest of it, within a couple of months, although I would have had to really pinch some pennies. But I just didn't want for her to have to wait.

My banker was really good to me, though. He's a young guy, about thirty-five. I really thought it would be a lot more difficult, but I guess the down payment being so large, compared to what was borrowed, made it an easier decision. He's still my hero, though and I'm going to move my money over to his bank and send him a letter of thanks, to let him know exactly why I'm moving it.

16. You know what? She didn't believe it!
Hahaha! She never quite believed it was going to happen, until I closed on it. I've been working on this for months now, and finally it is DONE! She'll be moving in in the next few weeks!

And she and her grandchildren and her children have marched through every square inch of it, and inspected every nook and cranny. Oh, she is a happy camper!

She is my beloved big sister and I am beside myself with happiness!

19. You know that there is a natural tendency to play to ego here, right?
I'm such a great person, blah, blah, blah, blah.....The fact is that I think that most people would do this, if they made enough money to do so. I believe that.

I am not an extraordinary person. I am merely lucky as fuck. And maybe the people I know are lucky as fuck, too, because I believe in what I believe in, and because I follow through on my beliefs.

We all live by our convictions, as much as possible, I think. But there are some who have such an ingrained sense of justification and rationalization, anything goes, as long as it benefits them.

I just can't do that. I can't live like that. And, somehow, by the grace of the universe, I have been blessed with the ability to feel pure joy when I give to others.

Where is that, in mankind, in these days?

24. I think it's more than luck
If you were "...merely lucky as fuck..." you wouldn't have gone through the hard times you've gone through.

Luck may play a part, but so does your strength, effort, and kindness. I'm very happy for you that you are able to tangibly aid those you love and care about. I'm sure thre have been times when hugs and kind words were all you could give, and wished you could give more.

   :hi: gentle and caring friend

What a remarkable thing to do. I needed that up-lift. You sound like an extremely rare (and I mean that in the best sense!) person.

I am not an old softie. But I am smart enough to know that you get back what you give.

And she is my beloved sister.

And you are my friend, Carina. (You better watch out; I'll get your mailing address and start sending you stuff from all over the USA! You know how much I travel!)

30. Yeah, you're a softie.
;)

Of course, so am I. We're paying SIL's tuition this summer for her internship. I fell for her sob story hook, line, and sinker. Now we're trying to figure out how to make it all happen without too much mess.

You are a good friend. If you're ever in Michigan, drop me a line, and I'll give you directions. :)

28. I'll tell you a secret.....
I am so very blessed (and I'm not even sure that I believe in God, and I still say that), that my sister has allowed me to do something like this for her. And I am so blessed that I COULD do it. I will be thankful for that for the rest of my days, because it means that my sister knows how much I love her and maybe, just maybe, knows how very precious she is to me.

I have been given a wonderful gift. What I have given to her is nothing, compared to it.

I'm not sure everyone can understand that. If you do, though, you just DO, and if you don't, you're just not at the place where you can understand it, I guess.
