Hey, DU. How about some happy news from Virginia?

Not to minimize what happened at all, but I've been working on something and I want to tell you guys about it.

I've started a foundation in honor of my parents. The primary goal will be to distribute toiletries and little gifty kinds of things, as well as school supplies to children in homeless shelters.

My lawyer is almost 100% with most of the paperwork, he's sure the IRS will approve it, so I'm going forward with the charter and the Board Members.

I've been working with some truly incredible manufacturers to get deep, deep discounts on backpacks and the stuff to go in them. They will be all purpose so the kids can use them for school, or to pack their stuff when they are able to leave the shelter or have to relocate.

I hope to be able to make the first shipment ready to go in August.

So, that's what I've been doing. In between chastising matcom for his lust for my daughter.

What do you think? Anyone want to help? We will start in the mid-Atlantic and then hopefully in a year once the distribution is settled go to the entire East Coast.

I hope you have a really good plan for fund raising. I wasn't a kid when I was homeless, so I can't imagine how many ways this must be stressful for a kid. But we all know that kids really do get ignored. All the help and encouragement they can get is awesome.
