I'm conflicted...
I don't know whether I should be a proud parent or a disturbed parent. This is my 13-year-old's band:

Not my genre, personally, but the proud parent side of me is impressed that they've pulled this together on their own -- the disturbed parent side of me is bothered because, even though I know that he plays and that he and a couple of his friends talk about their 'band' every once in a while, I had no idea that this was out there.

Hmmmmm....

2. This is the first time I've heard it.
The second song, apparently, they recorded in the band room at school -- I don't know where they put the first one together.

He's mentioned the band in passing -- but I've never heard them rehearse. I'm kind of flabbergasted by the whole thing and don't quite know what to think.

Hence the conflict. Still...not too bad for a few 13-year-olds.

3. Invite Marilyn Manson over to have a talk with them
He'll tell them that music is fun but it's nothing compared to Family Values.

4. I called Marilyn
for *just* that reason...but he was busy having a picnic with his kids.

9. Does this mean
that you're not going to support me in my old age?

Phooey...I guess I'll just tell him to work on getting those grades up, then.

13. You must be able to handle that kind of music way better than my 70 year old dad!
He hates the stuff I listen to, especially when its theirs alot bass in it. The only hard rock song I like that he doesn't mind listening to is In The Air Tonight by Nonpoint!

Hey, if your son wants to get into music, that particular genre provided he's doing good in school, than I say let him go for it!

14. He and his friends have been talking about
doing the local 'battle of the bands' for a couple of years...maybe I can dangle that in front of him as an incentive.

I'm desperate. I'll try anything.

:P

11. Yeah...struck me like that, too...
I mean...I don't recognize artists or lyrics, but I recognize the sound. Seems that's what they were going for...he volunteered the information when I asked him about it after school. Seems that I'm not as late finding it as I thought...they just posted it yesterday.
