1. Robb and the Dingbats
They seem to be a selection on everyone's polls.

Other than that,

da Stones.

21. I love Vaughan's cover of Voodoo Chile. Only Stevie Ray could

pull that off.

31. Definitely, The Beatles.
As an 11 year old, they were my musical awakening and I grew up with them. Such a wide range of fine music. I would include what John, Paul, George, and Ringo did as a group and individually.

6. depends on the day
Lately I've been going completely ga-ga for Robbie Robertson.

I historically have a hard time picking a "favorite" anything. How a band hits me today, at this stage in my life, on this particular day.... may be entirely different from how they hit me next year, or even next month.

8. I love the classics but...
I have to go with Nine Inch Nails. His new Year Zero album is terrifying and politically charged. I'm surprised more people aren't discussing it here in DU.

There's a lot of bands I still like so it wasn't an easy choice so I went for the unwaivering support option. I liked everything he did both with Deep Purple and Rainbow.

20. I really, really hate this question because it's so hard to answer...
but, overall, generally speaking (and this will probably change within a week, as it always does), I gotta go with Bob Dylan. There are soooo many close second-places, though — everyone from The Beatles to The Clash.

As far as newer acts, that person who posted Sleater-Kinney ealier had a pretty good idea.

23. So hard to answer, but the facts say that it's U2
..I come to this conclusion based off of a combination of # of albums I own by them, the number of years I've listened to them, the # of times I've seen them live, and mostly the fact that even when they haven't been my favorite I've listened to them to some degree. Since 1983 I've listened to them. When I've been mostly into metal I listened to u2. When I was into punk and hardcore, I still listened to U2. When I went through a Deadhead phase I still listened to U2. They have always been there as a musical staple in my life even when other bands commanded more attention or extremity of devotion.

27. U2, at the moment...
"Elevation" is currently my favorite song (it bumped Sheryl Crow's "Soak Up the Sun" for that spot).

I loved the "Lara Croft mix" video of that song, which put Dave Evans into a bunch of scenes from Tomb Raider...
