Seen it multiple times, and it ALWAYS brings a tear.

5. For me, it's The West Wing: Holy Night.
When President Barlet scolds Toby for using the White House to get a military funeral for a homeless vet.

Bartlet: "Don't you think this is going to bring every homeless vet out of the woodwork?

Toby: " I can only hope."

Followed by the funeral, accompanied by "The Little Drummer Boy".

I cry every time.

26. Hi, Huskerlaw!
It's okay, you're among friends here. No one is going to judge you; just let it out. Tell us: when did you first start to watch "The West Wing"?

When did you realize it was getting out of control?

Remember, just take it one day at a time...

B-)

27. Well...
I started watching The West Wing in 1999, but it wasn't a problem until last year. I realized I had a problem when I could quote entire episodes without even stopping to think about it.

But I think I'm getting better. I refrained from paying $200 for the boxed set of DVDs that I already owned. Even though the box is VERY pretty. And shiny. Shiny things distract me. Oh look, the presidential seal in silver... *wanders off to Amazon.com*

68. Two West Wing episodes
From Season 1:

"In Excelsis Deo" (perhaps the best television episode written, EVER)
"Take This Sabbath Day" (if that doesn't make you stop and think long and hard about capital punishment, then I don't know what)

Plus, there is an episode from the final (I think) season of "The Waltons." John Boy wanted to publish excerpts of Mein Kampf in his newspaper and the locals rebelled and had a book burning. John Boy fished a book out of the pile and gave it to one of the locals to read. It was the Bible, written in German, which was read by someone who no one knew had come from Germany. Whenever I come across that episode it is still so powerful that it almost knocks me over.

When she's laying in the hallway of the courthouse, and looks at Andy and says, "Take care of the baby," that just really got to me.

I loved what followed, though, when "Gay John" and Andy hugged (in a following episode), and Andy ended up taking care of Theo a lot. That's what I love about Andy; he's a gruff guy with some wrong ideas, but he always finds his humanity.

41. That was my first thought also.
But I will admit, I cried like a baby for the last half hour of that episode...and probably for another hour after it ended. I got so wrapped up in those characters and the stories that were being told, that I was really sad to see it all end. That show was one of the best I have seen on television in a long time. Brilliant writing, incredible acting, a unique concept...that show had it all. And the finale was just amazing.

24. 'The Wonder Years' did it a few times
I especially remember the end of the first episode, when Kevin and Winnie kissed for the first time to the strains of "When A Man Loves a Woman."

There was another one where Kevin was riding his Sting Ray down his street just as the sun was starting to set. It was an aerial pull-away shot of the whole block, with kids out playing, guys mowing lawns, etc. I don't remember the music or what the narrator said, but it just got to me.

Kevin was 12 in 1968; so was I. They were my Wonder Years, too.

25. "Opie's Birds" - an episode of The Andy Griffith Show.
The one where Opie kills the mother bird with his sling-shot- and Andy "punishes" him by making him raise the baby birds. Andy was PISSED- but instead he uses it as an opportunity to teach Opie valuable lessons about kindness & responsibility.

Sorry, but if you don't get all misty at the end of THAT one-when Opie releases the full grown birds back into the wild, then you probably don't have soul. Hell, it makes my misty just to write about it...

66. The Starsky & Hutch when Starsky's girlfriend passed away
Following her funeral, she has them both open presents that she left for both of them. Starsky gets some little thing; I can't remember what. But she leaves Hutch her beloved teddy bear, as well as a note that she is leaving him with the two things that she loved most in the world, and to take good care of them both.

Brilliantly acted by David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser.
