I need real help for a major addiction
I love pistachios!!! And my hands are getting severe cramps from opening shells--I need some already shelled pistachios, pronto!

1. Pistachio addiction I have no idea.
Now if it were Reese's mini peanut-butter cups I'd say God help your soul. That's my addiction.

:)

3. My name is SPK
and I'm a pistachio addict too

I once ate a whole 3 lb tin of them in like a day...

my fingers were sore, the salt on the shells was burning my skin from small cuts? I don't know, I couldn't stop.

I've found abstinence to be the best way to overcome it.

Although I still like to binge once in a while, I can get it out of my system usually, however now you've totally screwn me and I want some pistachios and i don't have any.

i wonder if the neighbors do? i could break into their homes and search for pistachios.... mebbe not

i could run to the store.... no driving would be more pragmatic.

besides i'm lazy and want them fast.

but wait, if i start, i might not be able to stop.

what would i drink with them?

what if i run out?

where will i get the money if i run out?

the banks are closed, i could put it on my debit, no wait, i'll use credit so i can pay later :dunce:

hmmmm

mebbe I better just pass on this one.

:hi:

4. I have a pound of Fiddyment Farms pistachios...
minus about 20. :9 I just ate 5, because you reminded me that I bought them yesterday.
A friend told me her cat loves pistachios. I don't think I'd offer them to a cat. ;)

5. I checked the Fiddyment link
I can't imagine lemon or lime flavored pistachios. Are they good?

7. I haven't tried those yet
The grocery store where I usually shop just started stocking FF garlic/onion and chili/lime pistachios.
I'll probably try their other flavors first by having some samples at the farmers' market, then, if they don't appeal, I won't be stuck with a whole bag!

8. Are you addicted so badly that you'll
try and open the ones with little/no split in the shell? Thereby risking your teeth/cutting yourself?

10. I think that once you get rushed to the hospital for an intestinal
obstruction, that should cure you of your addiction. It happened to me with my sunflower seed addiction. It ended up being pretty serious.

11. Trader Joe's has shelled pistachios, but I have a little trick for opening the shells
without killing your fingers. Take half of an empty shell (there are always one or two already in the bag/container) and one unopened pistachio. Wedge the pointiest part of the empty shell piece into the opening of the unshelled pistachio, then twist the empty shell piece. The unshelled pistachio will snap right open. Voila!
