I don't have a minor declared (not required) I'm three credits short from being to able to minor in Sociology (useless if you aren't going beyond undergrad)

1. What's your major?
If your minor applies to your major, then it can look good on a resume. Also, if it's something you'll use in your future job, you might want to have the learning. For example, a lot of my soils buddies minored in botany, both for the learning and for the resume-building.

2. Only in a couple of scenarios:
if one wants to teach social studies the more the creds the better per being hired; and b) in some grad programs the more diverse the collegiate training, the better (esp when applying to law and in some cases mba programs.)

If it is easy to "grab" (ala I have two more classes to take to gradueate - and if one or both is in this area I meet the grad marks) than it is worth it. If it requires an additional semester or more in undergraduate school to get a minor - than it isn't worth it.

Just my 2 cents.

5. Minors are always good to diversify your education
allowing you to expand into other fields without doing the full coursework. My dad went to law school, but got his Bachelors in Engineering with two minors in PoliSci and Economics.

I say go for it since you're so close.
