Actually, in my faith tradition (we're the descendants of the pilgrims) "virtue names" like Prudence are fairly common still. I once served a church with 5 Prudences, 3 Faiths, and a Patience. My dog even has a virtue name (Grace). I even know a man named "Faith".

14. Puritans and Pilgrims aren't the same thing.

They merged later, but Pilgrims were poorer and more radical. Because then, as now, the poor have less to lose, so are more likely to stand up to the status quo.
