So - here I am, 8 months pregnant, and I get called for JURY DUTY
Edited on Sat Apr-28-07 05:52 PM by Clark2008

The jury term is May, June and July. My baby is due the end of May via C-Section (which is an 8-week recovery).

Think the judge will dismiss me? Or does he/she WANT to have my water break during voir dire.

(I find this particularly funny because I covered court for 10 years as a reporter and was NEVER, EVER in my life called for jury duty. Now that I am called, I can't serve for a greater purpose). :7

1. You going to breastfeed while waiting to see if you're called?
;)

Congrats on the soon-to-arrive new love in your life! :hi:

2. LOL! I hadn't even thought about that!
And... would they only need to select 10 other people since I'm actually TWO people at this point?

:silly:

3. He/She will see you're very pregnant and reschedule your service.

Go in there, tell the judge that you're ready to serve, but you can't due to the pregnancy. Either you'll get excused flat out, or they'll postpone your commitment.

7. They'll excuse me - I'll see my doctor Thursday and he'll
write me a note. I don't report until the following Monday.

Doc's thisclose to pulling me out of work, anyway. I have borderline gestational diabetes and the only time my sugar's up is when I'm at work - stress factor, he thinks. I don't have a stressful job, really, but doing anything other than sitting or laying down at this stage is driving up the sugar. Let's put it this way, today, I had an ice cream and still only had a sugar count of 79. Last week at work, I had cottage cheese and some tuna on toast for lunch - things I'm supposed to be eating on my diet - and got a count of 142.

It's the stress, not what I'm eating.

5. I was three days from being due..
when I had to stand in line for four hours (STAND)and in court for another hour for a minor traffic ticket--no inspection.

after a half hour in court someone finally moved over so I could sit. How nice of them to fucking notice.

6. Oh that would SUCK.
I'm a small person with a big baby - my feet and legs are the size of tree trunks from the swelling (no preclampsia - just a small person trying to hold up a big baby).

I can't imagine having to stand anywhere for four hours. My back would give out.

Glad you and the baby made it out alive!!

8. LOL I got called when I was 2 weeks from my due date
My baby would have been one and half months old at the start of the trial. I just laughed and called the court house and explained things. I remember asking if breast feeding was allowed in the jury box now 'cause that's what they were going to get. The woman I talked to was so funny. She just told me, honey don't worry about it and go have that baby. That's the last I heard of it.
