30. The House Levelers, local New Orleans band circa 1990
What's cool about it is that it has a locals-only double meaning: because the ground under much of the city is subsiding (it wasn't always below sea level, y'know), one side of a house may end up a few inches below the other. There are companies that do business going around town jacking up people's houses so they're even. They are called "house levelers". There is even a category for "house levelers" in the Yellow Pages.

48. I always thought "Ten Years After" and Uriah Heep were cool....
...names and back in 1970 or 71 I was forced to go against my druthers to see a band with the silliest name I had ever heard of: "PINK FLOYD"! ("CHICAGO" was playing in the larger venue across town that same evening and I HAD heard of those guys at least!)

I suspect you are looking for less well known bands. I worked as a photographer with many local bands up here in the Seattle-Tacoma area for a number of years.

CHURCH OF HATE is the first odd name which comes to mind...(They are NOT a racist band but to be fair they do pick on Christians quite a bit)...(then they go about picking on everyone else)

GENITORTURERS is another cool name, one which fits because Gen is their vocalist and yes Mistress Gen does torture the naughty folks on stage with her whips and what-nots.

HELLES BELLES is cover band, all gals and lotsa fun to see, I never had the pleasure to work with them but I have enjoyed their shows and a finer name is not out there for them.

Oh and lest I forget: "SWEATY NIPPLES" was a great band around these parts, as was "RUNNING WITH SCISSORS", "THE BAR FEEDERS" and "THE PLEASURE ELITE". Not from around here but fun anyway were "THE IMPOTENT SEA SNAKES".
