Christian Tattoo Parlor Avoids 'Profane' Designs (Including Peace Symbols)
<snip>

Billy Joe Henry would love to tattoo your arms — but don't ask him for a peace sign or profanity.

Henry owns a Christian tattoo parlor on Broadway in Nashville— he's also set up shop in Terre Haute, Ind., and plans to have a parlor in Clarksville by the end of the summer. His story is being featured on the national cable TV show American Bible Society Presents tomorrow and Tuesday.

While serving time in jail in Indiana for a felony drug charge — he said he was taking about $250 worth of drugs each day at the time — he became a Christian when one of his jail mates started preaching.

"I had to listen because he was a big guy, and I wasn't about to make him mad," Henry said.

That night, after hearing the Gospel in a cell, Henry said a prayer. "I said, 'God, if you're real, get me out of here and I'll start going to church,' " Henry recalled. Within a couple of weeks of going to jail, Henry's judge threw out his case and his criminal record was expunged. He walked away a free man.

And he didn't forget his promise.

As part of his reform, Henry, 38, decided to give up tattooing.

Then one Sunday at church, Henry's wife, Lynn Henry, felt God put it in her heart for Henry to open a Christian tattoo parlor.

<snip>

Henry won't tattoo any design "that glorifies sin," he said. Limitations include marijuana leaves, profanity, peace signs and homosexuality. This sometimes drives away business, but Henry said he isn't bothered.

7. Yes, it does
Tattooing qualifies as a body mutilation, and as humans were made in the image of God, you're not supposed to mutilate the body. The one exemption is circumcision.

In fact, many Jewish cemetaries still won't allow people with tattoos to be buried in them due to this prohibition. However, that rule is waived in the cases of Holocaust survivors who were inked in the camps.

16. Maybe not
Your typical conservative, Protestant church has a plain cross, not a crucifix. This guy might see an image of Christ on the cross as a being just too damn papist for his delicate sensibilities.

12. Yeah, God knows that peace is so very profane
Isn't that one of the reasons that Christ was killed, because he preached peace?

Sometimes the hypocrisy of these people just makes my head spin. Violent bloody images of Christ are OK, but no peace now, that's not Christian:eyes:

13. Peace signs are satanic
the upside down cross with broken arms indicates christ's defeat and satan's victory.

All Hail Satan! Natas! Natas! Natas!

14. Lord knows the Prince of Peace would hate peace signs.
After all, if you don't support the war, Jesus hates you.

If you are a Christian, following the teachings of Christ, wouldn't you WANT to promote peace????

17. This reminds me of a scene from My Name Is Earl
One of Earl's friends gets rehabilitated in prison and becomes a Jesus freak, and has a tattoo of Moses parting the red sea on his ass.

:rofl:
