Does anyone else here remember ...... |

making May baskets (we used sheets of wall paper samples) and filling them with candy and plucked flowers - leaving them on the doorsteps and porches of friends and families - ringing the doorbell and running like hell? I do - I looked forward to that as a kid as much as Halloween.

There are a couple of elderly neighbors that I make May baskets for. However I can't run like hell anymore so I just leave them on the porch for them to find when they go out to check their mail.
It was a lot more fun when I was a kid though. I miss the running like hell part.

out of construction paper, and would staple a handle to the top. Then, would get up way early, cut some of the irises out of our garden (we had tons) and would leave cone baskets hanging on front door knobs of neighborhood friends. No message, no doorbell ringing...just the basket of flowers. (early 1960s)
These days would be hard to do something like that....could set off home alarms or something! :scared:

But my mom was the biggest buzzkill ever.
She did not like the idea of the doorbell ditch aspect of them.
