THANK YOU for all the fence installation advice! (Dial-up warning)
Edited on Sun May-06-07 11:55 AM by matcom
BIL and I installed 80 feet of vinyl fencing yesterday. Concrete and all (thanks to your advice). I turned out perfect! Not a single missed cut, NO mistakes whatsoever! (for me that is a major accomplishment). EVERY piece is level and plum :wow:

Trof, your advice to put tape 2' up on the post hole digger worked like a CHARM! :hi:

Again, thanks all!

Looking twords neighbor's house: Mrs Matcom out planting (the neighbors have WONDERFUL taste in color don't they?) :eyes:

3. So the matcoms live next to the pink house.
Makes finding the place pretty simple during the day. You need some flamingos on that side of the house.
The fence looks good.

11. Cool, so when are you available for hire?
... I'll be buying a house in early fall, and will want a 6 ft privacy fence around the perimeter.

Estimates are welcome. :)

23. Not too shabby...think about doing this, though
The posts are too long, dude. It looks kinda strange the way you've got the posts in there.

I recommend removing the caps (if you glued them on like you're supposed to you may be screwn), cutting the fenceposts off even with the tops of the panels, and gluing the caps onto the shortened posts. You can use either official PVC Fence Cement or just PVC cement from the plumbing department, it's the same stuff.

25. That looks great.
Excellent job!

I love fences, especially for backyard privacy. My mission when we're househunting next winter- find one with a big stockade fence in the back (if not, I want one).
