I wanted to see the Colorado River at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and didn't want to ride one of those damn mules. I left at 7:00 AM and got back at 6:00 PM. It was one of the best experiences of my life. Here's me posing at the sign that warns you not to attempt that hike in one day.

Know any Ruby programmers that work on the cheap? Python would work too.

I just need a script to read multiple text files. Run a Regex on them and push the output into a single file that I can import into a database (MySQL).

Have you ever come across nudist colonies while hiking or rafting? I have, a couple of times, in Northern California. I was a little shocked, at first, but then I thought about it-- isn't that our natural state? I am not a nudist, but I don't see anything wrong with it either.

I used to go canoeing with friends and we'd skinny dip. There's also a nudist resort in my area that I've visited, for a variety of reasons but mostly because I enjoy seeing other people naked.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, I just wonder if people are being completely honest when they say it's "just natural."

They prefer the word nudist resort. The conversations are interesting because so many of our cues come from clothes. You can't really tell about people's income, education, tastes, etc, just by looking at them when they're naked. At a nudist resort you have to talk to people to learn more about them, they're really a bit of a blank slate.

I have noticed that people are friendlier if I'm there with a woman and not just there by myself.

No...the first time I crossed paths with a group of nudists was when I was only 12 years old. We were tubing down the Bear River. My friend spotted them first...up on the rocks, above. We were too shocked to laugh. Before we could have any response, one way or the other, we'd already floated past them!

Then, there were other times...hiking in remote areas of Hawaii...when I was older. By then, we just respected their privacy...and pretty much turned onto the next trail.
