Greetings from Juneau, Alaska, Loungers! |
|
My wife and I are loving our cruise of the Alaskan Inside Passage. We want to get one last look at the glaciers before they're gone forever. B-)
I stopped in to a cyber-cafe to say 'hi' and see how everyone was doing.
How is everybody? Doing well, I hope.
Love to you all. :loveya:

2. It's gorgeous, GoPsUx, ole buddy! |
|
Absolutely beautiful.
Of course, I will show everyone the pics from the trip when we get back. We got some nice ones from the ship with the mountains and glaciers as a backdrop.
:hi: GoPsUx!

Last night, as part of the ship's French evening theme, I ate snails for the first time. They were pretty good. If you put enough garlic and butter on 'em, it kills the taste. ;-)

6. I am also curious about the weather. |
|
My sister and brother-in-law are doing one of those cruises in July, and my sister thinks it will be snorkeling weather.
A friend did the same trip about 10 years ago, and she experienced jeans and jacket weather.

19. If I can jump in here |
|
The temperatures will depend on whether the sun is out. If it's cloudy, it can be anywhere from the 40's to the 60's in July; if it's sunny, 60's to 80's. It would be wise to prepare for both. Forget snorkeling. The water will be around 40 to 50.

I wondered about that. Apparently, they haven't read anything about that. But I remember my friend's photos and she was always in a jacket.

I lived in Seward, AK on the coast south of Anchorage for 5 years. The summer weather is a lot like the towns in southeast AK. I loved it, even the cool summers.

7. My hometown, though I haven't seen it in 30 years |
|
I wish I was there now. I once bicycled through parts of Montana and Washington, up through Puget Sound and on into Alaska in the spring, camping out each night, usually wherever we could find a beach. What a glorious trip that was. I need to do that again.
Where else have you been up there? Skagway? Sitka? Anchorage? Vancouver? Wonderful, wonderful country.

I'm taking my sweetie for our 25th anniversary. We've always wanted to do the trip, though we've already cruised the Baltic. That one was a real hoot!

|
Aboard the Norwegian Star on NCL. I loved the ship and the freestyle cruising. We stopped at Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and Victoria, BC. Too bad we missed Sitka. I loved that city when I visited via the ferry system in '95.
Let's see, in Juneau I took a helicopter to the top of a glacier. That was expensive but incredible.
Enjoy your trip. The inside passage is terrific. As a cruise I enjoyed that one far more than my recent cruise in Hawaii.

I have a theory that the places with the hardest winters have the most beautiful springs.

Juneau is land locked well basically it is. The only ways in are by boat and by plane or biplane if you know the tune.
